- Noah’s Mom
“I started Noah because he had fallen and hit his head; I wanted to make sure his nervous system was okay after being diagnosed with a concussion, little did I know there was so much more chronic health challenges Noah would finally be able to heal from when we began chiropractic care. When I sat down with Dr.Nikki and started discussing Noah’s history of severe asthma, allergies and eczema… and she told me chiropractic may be able to help Noah with all of these health challenges, my mind was blown. Chiropractic has completely changed his life.
Prior to finding CLC, Noah was taking A LOT of different medications at just 4 years old. He was taking 2 different daily allergy meds, using an inhaler at least 3x/day, and additionally we were doing breathing treatments up to 4-5x/month at home. We had to go to the doctor often for steroids and additional breathing treatments. His attacks have been so bad over the years, we’ve even ended up in the ER several times.
He wasn’t able to do simple things like play hard outside or run. When we would go to the trampoline park, he’d want to keep up with the other kids, it was honestly kind of scary at times because this would send him into a severe attack. I would have to talk to him about how he had to take it easier than the rest of the kids because of his asthma, it broke my heart. Before finding CLC, it never occurred to me that his nervous system may just be stressed and chiropractic was the answer to help his body truly heal.
Within the first few adjustments, my babysitter was calling me saying Noah was running around playing outside with the other kids, jumping on the trampoline all day long, and he hadn’t used his inhaler once, NOT ONCE! I was in a bit of disbelief. Normally, he would have to take intermittent breaks to use his inhaler several times while playing because otherwise he would start coughing and having an asthma attack.
Fast forward to now. After several months of care, all his health challenges have essentially gone away. He can be a kid now! He can run and play with friends without anything holding him back. I can’t even remember the last time he had to use his inhaler, we no longer have to do breathing treatments at home, and Noah doesn’t even have to take his allergy medications anymore! I’ve even seen improvements in his mood! He is a much happier kid because he’s no longer weighed down by all these health issues at just 4 yrs old. When the weather starts changing, or maybe he is fighting something… we always bring him in more frequently for additional adjustments to help his nervous system adapt to the stress more efficiently, and it saves me a lot of money compared to going to the ER and having to pay for all his medications.
I used to think about how I was going to have to tell Noah he couldn’t do track, or baseball or swimming when he got older, because it would just be too dangerous for him. I had convinced myself it just wasn’t in the cards for Noah, I really believed this was the limitation his body had and we just wouldn’t be able to ever get past it. I dreaded this conversation that I played over and over again in my head that I would have to have one day.
Once again, you showed me that wasn’t going to be the case for Noah, just like you did for me in my own healing journey. After getting Noah started with chiropractic care, I’m confident he WILL be able to do all those sports that he wants to do and simply be able to keep up with the other kids because his asthma is no longer holding him back. As a mom, that’s all you really ever want for your kids. You don’t want them to feel left out or like they are different. To have to limit his activities or exposure to the outside and being around others because of his health, it was heart breaking as a mom. It brings me to tears knowing that Noah does not have to live by those limitations anymore because of the healing chiropractic has provided us.
For you guys to break that barrier I had set for both Noah’s health and my own, I feel like God has provided in every way. If I hadn’t found you guys when I did, I fear that Noah would have missed years and years of playing with his friends. I feel like the Lord led me here and was telling me, “No Lisa, Noah is going to be able to play sports and this is where you are going to learn that his body does not have to have this limitation.” Here at CLC, you guys have just crushed all those walls and barriers I had put up for myself and my son. You’ve opened us up to a whole new view of our futures that I never really saw for either one of us. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
When I started here, my goal was to be able to play with my son. And then I started Noah, and I just wanted him to be able to play with his friends. Our lives are completely different now. I feel like we are finally able to LIVE. If the Lord brought us how many thousands of miles from California, just for this, I am content in my decision to move to Iowa. You always hear things happen for a reason and you always want to know what those reasons are and why things happen the way they do, but I truly believe the Lord was closing those doors in California because he wanted us to get here to CLC to heal. It really is a perfect story.”

“Before starting care at CLC, I was having lower back immobility, tight muscles, insomnia, anxiety and chronic allergies. Something else that was pretty prominent was I used to get colds basically every month.
I thought, “This was 30”, this is how I was supposed to feel. I had kind of accepted it. You don’t really realize things are a problem until you fix them. You see how life can be without having those issues, then you don’t want to go back.
I used to take melatonin to help me sleep and I used to take a plethora of allergy medication – zyrtec, benadryl, claritin – all the over the counter stuff. I’ve had allergies since I was 12 and had prescription strength allergy meds because they were so bad. I haven’t even had allergies this year or had to take any medication this spring. Since I’ve started I haven’t had one cold that I can remember.
At the end of the first month, before my second scans, I could already tell I was falling asleep faster, could relax and let go faster. I was able to get back in the gym more, I was recovering a lot faster and wasn’t sore for 3 days. Relatively quickly I noticed what you were doing here was helping.
This is my first chiropractic experience. I was under the impression that chiropractic was more for rehab and physical therapy – more for injuries. I never associated it with preventative care or maintenance.”

“I’ve had lots of asthma issues ever since I was 12 years old. Throughout my 20s I got in a pattern of getting infections every 3 months when my allergies would kick up. I had some autoimmune problems that were undefined and flared in my mid 20s. So I was just in a bad cycle of constant need for antibiotics and prednisone. I had really low energy, and couldn’t really ever get fully healthy.
I felt like I wasn’t really listened to when I would tell my doctor, “this keeps happening.” They would say, “okay, I’m sorry, but this medicine will help you.” It was just putting a bandaid over it with medicine. I always felt like there had to be something more that we could do because obviously it was a consistent problem. I didn’t feel like I could ever get someone to really look into what was going on; it was just well the pulmonologist knows the lungs, when I had skin problems, the dermatologist knows the skin – it wasn’t a full look at health, it was just pieces.
When I was pregnant, my asthma would flare and I would have to go to the ER for breathing treatments. That kind of happened periodically. Even though I was on tons of asthma medications, I was still dealing with it! That’s when I started realizing it was maybe more hormone related. Clearly just treating the asthma isn’t doing anything.
I think the biggest difference about coming here versus the medical places I’ve been to was that you guys actually took the time to listen to everything that I had going wrong with me. It was, “from this scan and from the symptoms you’re having, this is what correlates.” It was a bigger picture I was looking for to give me hope that treating these systems could actually solve some of my problems. It was different that the time was taken and the technology that could take a look at my full system, my body as a whole, and that there was a true correlation to my symptoms and stressed areas in my body.
I instantly got way more energy after starting here! I was dancing around with my daughter. I was able to do more housework without getting really tired, I wasn’t totally burned at the end of the day. I was having some asthma symptoms but my body was able to fight it better. This spring has been hard, but overall I have bounced back better. Those things are what I’ve noticed right off the bat.
Being here has given me a lot of hope that overtime I can really be healthy. I had tried to workout more, to take supplements, I was trying to do everything right but then my body would just crash and I’d end up having to start over again. That was really getting exhausting. Now I’m able to make these steps to be healthy and to actually have more energy to do it. My body is getting taken care of regularly. I have hope that we’re already breaking patterns and we’re going to continue to. Before I would just think, “I’m going to deal with this for the rest of my life, I guess this is just my normal.” But now, I think, “this could actually get better!”
If anybody has any issues and they haven’t found answers, to try chiropractic because it is a great first step to help get your body right so you can move forward. I’m bringing my daughter now even though nothing is “wrong”. I don’t want her to end up like I did where her body is just out of whack and she ends up with chronic health issues.”
- Caiden
“The main reason we started Caiden at CLC were because of his allergies, but we ended up seeing many health improvements including his digestion! For the last couple of years, during the allergy season, Caiden’s allergies would flare up a little bit, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. They’d go away pretty quickly after a little Benadryl. My husband has allergies too so I’ve never really thought anything of it. But this past spring it was a different story; they were SO BAD. It happened pretty much over night, pollen season came and smacked us in the face. His eyes were so swollen, red, and itchy. He’s only 4 so he didn’t really know how to handle it, all he could do was whine and scream. We couldn’t go outside, I had to pretty much just sit him in front of the tv and hoped the Benadryl would kick in, but it just wasn’t helping like it had in the past. He’d just have to lay their with wash cloths on his face for comfort. Every day for 10 days he woke up with his eyes sealed shut with goop. He’d scream for me because he was scared he couldn’t see or open his eyes. It was right when the seasons were starting to change, the weather was so nice finally but we couldn’t go to parks with all our friends, we had to avoid all the fun activities. For those 2 weeks, he would react severely within just 10 minutes of being outside, itching all over the place… I was desperate for help.
I had been coming to CLC for a few years, and I love what you guys do here. Knowing that allergies are connected to the immune system, which is controlled by the nervous system, I knew we needed to try this.
On his initial visit, we got the scans done and they were indicating extreme stress in Caiden’s little body and nervous system. I felt a little overwhelmed and sad, you want the best for your children, you want them to be healthy, he’s only 4 and his nervous system was showing all this disease and dysfunction. I was sad about it, but at the same time I knew that’s why we were here. He is so young and there’s so much potential for healing in his little body. You guys explained the more stress on the scans you find, the more improvements you expect to see; that gave me a lot of hope.
Since starting with adjustments, undoubtedly he’s doing so much better. He’s not getting these flare ups, and in general I can tell his system is just so much more CALM. He doesn’t have the itchiness or puffiness anymore. He used to have random skin issues, little bumps and areas of eczema which is happening much less frequently over all. We were just at the Johnson County fair and there was hay being thrown everywhere, his eyes started to get a little puffy and itchy, but he recovered so quickly this time. He woke up the next morning and he was completely normal; at that moment it clicked for me that his body was able to recover so well against that little, mini attack. It didn’t last 2 weeks like before, it was literally a few hours and he was fine again!! I know his body is responding a lot better than it was prior to chiro care.
It’s always been in the back of my head that something was off with his digestion as well. His stools have always been pretty inconsistent and he would experience a lot of bloating. I know how important good gut health is for a properly functioning immune system, and that the nervous system plays a key role in that. With adjustments, I’ve noticed his digestion has improved and his poops are more healthy and regular! His bloating has also improved significantly. That’s been really cool to see. I know his body is now able to detox so much more efficiently with the improvements in digestion.
I’m so hopeful for next year when allergy season comes around and pollen counts spike, that Caiden’s body is going to be able to respond so much better. And I just love knowing that chiropractic care is allowing his ENTIRE body to function better in addition. Caiden LOVES coming here now! He was pretty nervous at first even though he’d been watching me get adjusted for months, but with in a few adjustments he would hop right up on the adjustment table; the doctors are so awesome with him and made him feel comfortable so quickly!”

“The very beginning part of my journey – I had a concussion 5 years ago and it was pretty severe. I had to do physical therapy for 5-6 months. I had chronic neck and shoulder pain and headaches, my upper back was chronically in pain. I got to the point where I didn’t even notice it because it was there all the time. I was to the point where I was just going through the day. I wasn’t really living. It was about 3 years before I started coming here.
After the concussion, when I would sleep, I would startle – I constantly startled. I knew that was related to my nervous system. I also have always had gut issues. I had a lot of food allergies and intolerances. My immune system was so out of whack and was just reacting to everything I ate.I’ve been diagnosed with celiac and I have another autoimmune disorder – psoriasis. It’s not severe by any means but that was triggered about two years ago when I had high stress levels. So I decided I needed to come back and make this part of my health rehab.
I had a lot of high stress with work, I own my own practice. The stress on top of the damage from my concussion was overwhelming. I had actually gone to a naturopath that suggested I do something like this.
For so many years I’ve taken the holistic approach. Years ago when I was diagnosed with celiac, I was taking more of the traditional route with medications but I’m so sensitive to medications, I just couldn’t do that. I got to a point where I knew I would have more and more symptoms. Once the psoriasis hit, that was it, I needed a reset and a lifestyle change.
I had gone to other chiropractors for more short term, pain relief. I never saw chiropractic as long term, keeping your nervous system and all the other systems in check. I had never really heard that until I heard Dr. Nikki and Dr. Mike speak about it. It made sense to me. The scans lined up with the organ systems that I was having problems with.
I think it took about 8 months here until I felt in a stable place. My neck and back were out for so long that it kept wanting to go back. I was no longer having the headaches, I was no longer having the chronic neck pain. I’ll be honest, I got worse before I got better. I was doing chiropractic but also had to do cranio-sacral massages to help release some of that stress. I detoxed hard. I knew it was something I had to go through in order to get to the other side and create that stability.
I can definitely tell a difference after coming so long. I have more energy. I’m sleeping better – I don’t have that startle anymore in the middle of the night, I sleep more soundly. I don’t feel the bloating after I eat anymore. I don’t have the pain that I had before. I don’t have tightness in my chest and neck like I used to; with my high cortisol that’s where I would hold my stress. I exercise now. Before when I tried to exercise I would be exhausted the rest of the day but I wanted to exercise because it was good for me mentally. Now, I’m energized by exercise.
Once I got stable and got over that hump, it was all worth it.“
