- Quinn

The reason we brought Quinn to CLC was for chronic constipation that was leading to impaction and pain. She was only having bowel movements 1-2x/wk and we were stuck in a terrible cycle of quick fixes. On our own that wasn’t really working very well. She was also having a lot of trouble with sleep, specifically sleeping through the night. She would wake up often and early.

When Quinn first started dealing with constipation over a year ago, we brought it up to her primary care physician and were given the suggestion of a laxative. As parents, we knew this was just a “quick fix” and not really addressing the root of the problem. We didn’t feel comfortable with this option and never went through with it because we felt like we wouldn’t be satisfied with that, especially because we wanted to find a more long term solution. We had tried some essential oils that worked a little bit with the discomfort, but we didn’t notice much change in the constipation until beginning care at CLC.

The constipation was continuing to get worse and we knew we had to find a different solution. We had friends that came to CLC and you came highly recommended. On Quinn’s first visit, we went over her neurological scans. We were seeing so much stress in the areas that calm and regulate her nervous system, which were preventing her from getting into digestion and sleep mode. It was very validating as a parent to see our concerns were real and there was a reason for some of the problems Quinn was having. Having those discussions on how these issues have continued to evolve from challenges she was having earlier on as an infant really helped us connect the dots. Those same areas of neurological stress that were shifting her away from digestion and sleep mode, also influence growth and development of the brain. She had been a late crawler and talker, and we started to realize some of these things may be connected in a way that we never knew due to un-addressed stress on the nervous system from the birthing process.

It was reassuring to know there were steps we could take to address the underlying stress on the nervous system that was likely contributing to not only constipation and sleep challenges, but also delayed growth and developmental milestones.

Since we’ve gone on this journey at CLC, we’ve noticed so many changes in Quinn. After the first couple weeks of care we started to notice major improvements in the frequency and ease of bowel movements and really haven’t had any issues with constipation since! Because she was only have 1-2 bowel movements/wk, they would sometimes get impacted and be very painful. Quinn now has a bowel movement almost every day and no longer causes her the impaction and pain they used to. After several months of care, her sleep has really started to come along as well. Not only have we noticed improvements in her digestion and sleep, her mood and overall level of comfort have also improved. She is in a better pattern in life, I feel like her body isn’t always just trying to “catch up” now.

Her newest set of neurological scans looked SO GOOD. We were seeing so much less stress on her nervous system, which is so encouraging as a parent to see what we are doing with the adjustments not only is helping with the symptoms we brought her in for, but how her brain and nervous system are FUNCTIONING.

Before beginning care at CLC, I was struggling with anxiety, vision issues, and extreme hot flashes and night sweats that significantly interfered with my ability to sleep. My whole family was already coming here when I decided to start. I was seeing so many improvements in my twins and husband once they began care at CLC, I finally decided it was my turn.

The vision issues I was dealing with made me feel like I had been drinking all the time— which I hadn’t. Turning my head too quickly would make me dizzy. We had done all kinds of medical testing- MRIs & CTs- and found nothing. I was dealing with this for 6 months before beginning care. It made me feel “off” all the time.

I didn’t know where to turn. I couldn’t see straight, glasses weren’t working, the eye doctor and medical doctors couldn’t find anything wrong, but I knew SOMETHING was going on. It was super frustrating not knowing what was wrong with me. I had also been on antidepressants before to help manage my anxiety and depression and didn’t want to have to go down that road again because of the side effects, they were affecting the relationship I had with my husband. I just didn’t want to go through my life medicated anymore. (We were at the point with our kids that medication was going to be our next step to help control their anxiety and behaviors, and when we were able to get to the root of their stress at CLC and ultimately did NOT have to resort to meds, I knew I wanted the same for myself).

You approach health and healing so differently at CLC. You look at what is going on internally to find the root cause of stress and dysfunction in the brain and body, rather than a “band-aid” approach I have experienced in the past. The neurological scans you do at CLC on the 1st visit to assess internal stress were very validating. You finally were able to pinpoint areas of stress that could be contributing to all the symptoms I had been struggling with for so long with no answers.

It didn’t take long to start feeling the benefits of chiro care. The vision and dizziness issues I was dealing with before have all improved since beginning care. I don’t have the brain fog like I used to. My hot flashes at night have improved significantly, which is allowing me to sleep so much better at night. I go to sleep faster and stay asleep; I don’t wake up in the middle of the night having to change my clothes because of night sweats anymore.

My temperament has also improved, I don’t snap like I used to. I’m managing my anxiety a lot better now, I don’t feel like it weighs on my shoulders like it used to. I’m able to process things that stress me out better, I can step away and take a breather and calm down rather than just flying off the handle. I’m not always on edge anymore, life is just easier now!

Coming to CLC has changed my perspective on life and health. I’m able to recognize stressors so much easier now and have been able to implement more effective coping mechanisms to manage my stress better.

When my kids are sick or showing signs of stress, my 1st inclination is to bring them in to get adjusted to allow their nervous system to ADAPT to this new stress more efficiently, and most of the time we are able to avoid trips to the pediatrician and medications because of it! Our whole family is processing and handling life stress so much better now that CLC is a part of our wellness journey.

“We were drawn to Dr.Mike’s office in the hopes that he could help our oldest son with some anxiety and sleep issues. While he didn’t have what I would call “severe” anxiety, it did interfere with his ability to relax. He was chewing his nails down, I hadn’t trimmed his nails in almost a year. He was having some behavioral outbursts if things went off schedule even a little bit. We also were having trouble with him sleeping independently. He once had, but one illness threw all of that out the window and he was at a point in his development that he just needed to sleep with us.

After seeing Dr. Mike for a couple of months, his anxiety has drastically reduced. I have trimmed his nails twice! And even more amazing to me, is that he can just relax, if something goes differently than he expects, he handles it so well. He also has been able to sleep independently (on our floor) which I attribute to the ability to relax. I learned a lot about how subluxation can cause the body to stay stuck in fight or flight, and he was. Now he is not – and while he’s always been a very happy boy, he just seems so much more at ease. Since our oldest was going, we also decided to have our youngest seen (what could it hurt?!). We have noticed that he has been sleeping better too – if he wakes up in the night he is much easier to put down. He also has been sick one time since starting with Dr. Mike, and I truly think that it was much less severe than other colds he has had in the past – shorter, symptoms not as intense. Also, if he ever got a runny nose before he would automatically get an ear infection. That cold he had a runny nose but he did not get an ear infection! Both boys are definitely benefitting. Our issues were not intense to some standards, but it was affecting our daily lives. Improving their overall health has been my main goal and I honestly believe that with Dr. Mike’s help the boys are on the right track.

Since I was taking the boys to Dr. Mike, after a couple of weeks I decided to be seen for some ongoing back pain that I had experienced since being pregnant with my youngest. I also hoped that I could improve my health and lessen my anxiety. What surprised me the most is the improvement in other areas that I didn’t even really realize were a problem, because I just had dealt with them for so long! I have always had sinus issues and after a couple of adjustments I was breathing clearer than I have since I can remember. After a couple of months I have noticed my anxiety has lessened, but more importantly I feel like I have more patience. I don’t “pop my top” as quickly as I was. I was also stuck in fight or flight, and now I’m starting to feel the difference of coming out of that. My back pain has reduced dramatically. If I would do a hard workout before, I would have to take a few days off of exercising to let the back pain subside. I can do whatever workouts I want now without having that back pain immediately follow. And my favorite part is that my sleeping has improved. I didn’t realize how poorly I was sleeping – after all I have two young children! But I fall asleep so much easier now, fall into a deeper sleep, and if I wake up in the night I can fall right back to sleep instead of being up for an hour thinking of all the stuff I have to do. It is a blessing. Thanks Dr. Mike!

I wanted to share our story because I truly think that Dr. Mike can help such a wide range of people. Whatever end of the spectrum you are on, I would highly suggest giving Dr. Mike the opportunity to help you. We are a happier, healthier, more relaxed family thanks to Dr. Mike. We love going to the office, Dr. Mike is kind and empathetic, but the environment as a whole there is so family friendly! Mady, Victoria and Jen are so caring, it never feels like going to another appointment when we go. We love it. THANKS CONGRUENT LIFE!”

- Arturo

Like many of the kiddos we see, this little guy has been through so much! When Arturo was just 9 months old they started going to doctor appointments all the time. They were hardly ever home, and the doctor’s office and ER was their “second home”. They went to neurology, genetics and visited the ER 4-5x a month and every test came back negative. He was constipated since birth, taking Miralax daily. Arturo would go 2-3 weeks constipated, and he would cry when it came time to go to the bathroom because it was so painful. He experienced frequent ear infections, RSV and dehydration. Arturo was never sick-free for more than two weeks. Their family was afraid to go out, because even a simple walk when it was breezy would turn into a fever spike and a cold! After all of those hospital stays and doctors visits, they still didn’t know what was wrong or how they could help him! They felt like they had exhausted all of their resources, and didn’t know what else there was.

One day Arturo’s mom received a Facebook message from a friend saying “I’ve been bringing my daughter to a great chiropractor, and I really think it could help him!” Since her friend had nothing to gain from sharing their experience, her interest was sparked! She checked out our Facebook page and website, and saw that we specialize in helping kiddos with special needs. Everyone seemed to be afraid to try and help special needs kiddos, so it really drew her in that we were experienced in helping these kiddos!

On their initial visits when Dr. Mike went over the scans and said that he had found something and could help, she took a sigh of relief. They FINALLY found something! Never in the last 3 years did they have any test come back with results that they could actually do something with to help Arturo! Mom says that “this was our missing puzzle piece!”

They have seen so many amazing changes in the last couple months being under care. Arturo hasn’t been to the doctor AT ALL since starting care. Before, they couldn’t go anywhere without him getting sick. Now they can take walks, he can play with his sisters, he can go to school and he doesn’t get sick every time like he did before. He can be a KID! He’s gone from waking up every night between 12-3 am, to sleeping through the night! After his first 3 weeks of care, Arturo started pooping daily with no Miralax! His constipation is now few and far between! He has more energy, and mom says he just acts more alive!!

This family drives 30 minutes each way to get to our office! Mom says “it’s SO worth it!!” When asked what she likes about our office she said, “You guys are AMAZING! The doctors are so loving, and it feels like home. It doesn’t feel like a doctor’s office, you all want to get to know us and care about our days! You don’t find other doctors like that! What you do for families, the encouragement and inspiration both in person and on Facebook makes our days better! We wanted something different, and that’s what we got!”

- Rosie

“We started bringing Rosie to CLC because she seemed really “wound up” and was way too anxious for a three year old. We were all adjusting to having a new baby in the house, so there were just a lot of changes happening all at once. Even though we were always outside, going on bike rides, eating really well and doing “all the things”, her energy was still not being released. That especially showed up at bedtime. It was almost impossible to get her to go down to bed. It was super frustrating because I felt like we were doing all of the other things, and we were still just having a really hard time. It left me wondering what we were missing!

The scans you do were so fascinating to me. I remember Rosie’s scans being all over the place, and it confirmed what we already knew about her having a ton of pent up energy inside her system that was not being released. In the past, we were also never talked to about going to the chiropractor more than once a month. Having her come more frequently made a huge difference. Things started to get easier with Rosie right after our first week of care. She would take a nap after her adjustments and I felt like those were the best days ever. She would wake up from the naps like a brand new tiny human! My husband even said she was more calm! He was definitely much more skeptical and hesitant, so when he really noticed how much better she was doing, he really believed in what you guys were doing here. So much so, that he actually started coming for care too.

The biggest difference I’ve noticed with Rosie is how much better she is able to sleep. She’s able to nap when she needs to and follows her own cues when she needs to rest. Our whole family comes to get adjusted together on Wednesdays and we use that day to spend time together. As a nursing mama, I can’t wait for my adjustment each week! My husband is on his feet all day and complains much less now that he’s getting adjusted. Our baby Zinnia was 4 months old when we started coming and we’ve never dealt with the “witching hour”, and that was something that was really hard with Rosie. Bedtime is much more enjoyable now, and there is just much more calm in our family!”

- Vivi

“Before starting care here, Vivi would have some crazy fits that I wouldn’t be able to bring her out of very easily. It was one of those things where I thought, “Is she a 3 year old having fits or is this abnormal?” Then, she started getting up in the middle of the night, again, I asked myself the same thing. After about 2 months of both of those things happening together, I began to think it wasn’t normal, my mom instinct said I should explore chiropractic care.

It was super frustrating because it felt like there was nothing I could do to help her. I know she has big emotions and there were no strategies I had to help her calm down. I felt lost. My youngest started sleeping through the night but then Vivi started getting up. I thought we were past that. I was exhausted and I know she was exhausted.

I’ve been to a lot of chiropractors before and I’ve never seen the scans that you do done before, plus going over them in depth. You guys did such an awesome job explaining everything, from what could be happening and what we could be seeing as a result of interference. She had so much energy before and that was on those scans too. It’s super kid friendly here which is nice, the doctors and staff are so good with kids. It’s helpful knowing my youngest can be in the waiting room and play while I’m tending to Vivi.

It wasn’t an immediate thing, but after a couple weeks, maybe once a week she’d sleep through the night. This was a big deal! She had been waking up 1-3 times every night. When she started sleeping through the night again I was like, “Maybe this is working!” Then a couple weeks later she’d sleep through the night a couple times a week! She’s now to the point where she pretty much always sleeps through the night! When she does have a fit she can easily come out of it.

I was so encouraged to start chiropractic care for Vivi because I was doing something to have a positive outcome, instead of just turning my wheels and wondering, “Why is she not sleeping through the night, why is she having these issues?” Coming to the chiropractor and having Dr. Mike and Dr. Nikki explain what might be going on in her body and then having an action to help, gave me so much more hope than just reading a book and hoping that it would just fix on its own. I felt like I was being an active participant in her health, that was what was most encouraging to me throughout the process. Irregardless if it worked immediately, or took awhile, at least I knew I was doing something for her.

I’m hopeful we can keep on top of the health, being proactive instead of reactive. My husband and I are proactive when it comes to our health, but it took this happening for us to realize we need to be doing that for our kids too, for their future, so they can be healthy in the mind and the body. I’m grateful knowing the difference between, ‘is my kid doing this because they can’t control their body and emotions’, or ‘is my kid doing this because it’s a stage they’re in.’ There’s a vast difference. Now I have a better idea of what’s normal and I’m glad I listened to my intuition.”

- Danielle

In January, I was to a point where I wasn’t able to move. I was having to work from my bed and was in tears from how bad the pain was. I knew there was something wrong. I have a high tolerance for pain so I just let things continue to get worse and worse over the course of the last year until I couldn’t function anymore.

It was so frustrating to feel like I couldn’t be myself, do the things I wanted to do, even just move around because of the pain. I was honestly scared because I knew something had to be seriously wrong. I don’t really like to take pain meds, but at my worst I was having to rely on them just to get through the day.

When I had my first appointment at CLC and we went over the neurological scans, there was A LOT of stress. The scans don’t lie. They really helped to identify and target where all the pain I was having was stemming from. I was able to understand how my body was responding to traumatic things I’ve been through over the last 20 years. It put everything into a nutshell for me and I was able to have this light bulb moment. Things that I didn’t really think were impacting me were actually having a way bigger impact on how my brain and nervous system were functioning than I realized.

I had been in a perpetual fight or flight state over the last few years. After my first adjustment, I just felt this huge release of stress being lifted off my nervous system. I feel like I have a TON of energy now compared to when I first started. The “aches and pains” I was contributing to just getting older are no longer present for me. Chiropractic has helped regulate my moods and has allowed me to handle situations that would normally make me very upset or emotional a lot better. I have a much bigger capacity to really address stressful things in my life, and I’ve made some huge life changes to get me into a much better place. It’s also helped with my sleep.

I recently fell down some stairs after I started care, and I was really nervous that was going to take me a long time to recover from, but after about 2 adjustments I felt completely back to normal! In the past, something like that would’ve been a lot longer recovery for me.

Before care I was in a cycle of pain, and then it was hard to move, and then it would just snowball. It was so hard to break the cycle. Chiropractic was the missing piece. I haven’t had any situations where I’ve been bed ridden from pain since beginning care, and I’ve lost almost 20 lbs! The doctors at CLC have helped educate me that if there is pain happening, there is something going on underneath the surface that needs to be addressed to actually heal.

I continue to get adjusted on a weekly basis to help maintain all the positive changes I’ve seen in my life. Life is stressful! I have to travel often for work and meet a lot of deadlines, I want to do what I can to stay on top of it so I don’t end up back in a place like I was before starting. Every one is so kind, knows me by name, and are genuinely interested in how I am doing. The environment is so great at CLC!

“Before starting at Congruent, I would let stress take over my body and it began to affect my overall health immensely. Stress and tension continued to build up over the years; I was trying to deal with my stress through different medications and “band-aids”, which never really seemed to help.

Finding an alternative approach to managing my stress has helped me so much. After starting here, I really started to see the benefits of adjustments, and how it was helping me manage my stress in a more efficient and effective way.

My wife and I had actually been going to a different chiropractor before finding CLC, but we always just felt like a number, and not a person. It was a very rigid routine there and it would be the same adjustments every time. At CLC the care we receive each visit is individualized to our experiences and the stress our body is holding onto on that particular day. It’s never the same.

Before care, my stress levels were so high they would interfere with my sleep quality which became a vicious cycle of getting bad sleep and being in a bad mood…it would affect my entire day. Once I started at CLC I was finally able to sleep through the night! Along with my sleep quality, my over all mood has improved dramatically, and I’m in much less pain; how I feel and function has been a complete 180.

For years, I was just masking my symptoms with ibuprofen and other meds. You guys have opened my eyes to where health truly comes from and there’s been a huge shift in my lifestyle; if I do feel under the weather, my first thought is now to come in and get adjusted rather than running for the medicine cabinet. We now use holistic tools to support our bodies through illnesses, rather than suppressing the symptoms. It feels better to not have to deal with the side effects of medicine all the time.

I recently got a letter in the mail from my doctor that they haven’t seen me in over a year; this opened my eyes so much to how much our lives have changed since CLC. Before, the doctor’s office is a place I would have to frequent often; it feels so good to know I’ve been able to take control of my health. You’ve opened my eyes to thinking differently, asking questions, getting to the root cause rather than suppressing symptoms all the time, and it’s definitely paid off in the end.”

“I came to Congruent Life because my anxiety was out of control, I was in pain everyday and I was experiencing menstrual problems. I have had anxiety since I was 18 years old and I just wanted to be in control of my anxiety without medication. One of my client’s kiddos came to see you guys and I saw his transformation! He was a totally different child, so I wondered if chiropractic could help me too. After some research and coming to one of your yoga events, I learned how chiropractic impacts the nervous system. That made me wonder, maybe what I was struggling with was related to my nervous system.

After starting care with you guys I really liked that the doctors actually explained what they were doing and why. I loved the scans, being able to track my progress and actually having a plan that was consistent and made real change. Since being under care I’m much happier and less annoyed by the little things. I’m less snappy so all of my relationships are better. My anxiety being lower at work is a huge benefit. I have more energy and motivation at home, so I don’t just crash at the end of each day. I have less cramping during my period and my sleep has improved! I feel like I am actually getting a full nights sleep, instead of waking up and having trouble getting back to sleep. I have experienced so many changes and my experience at CLC is different then any of my other chiropractic experiences. You guys treat everyone like family. Everyone is so kind and friendly! That makes all the difference!”
