- Maci’s mom

“When Maci was 7.5 months old, she had a tumor removed from the right side of her brain that ended up affecting the left side of her body. It caused a lot of asymmetries in her muscles and her left foot turned in a lot. Before starting care at CLC, Maci was struggling with coordination, strength, and alignment. It seemed like her body was working really hard to do simple things like walking.

Before starting our journey at CLC, Maci was working hard at OT and PT. She was definitely getting stronger, and we were noticing progress. At the same time, I realized this is just the way Maci is now, and I wanted to do everything in my power to help her excel and reach her full potential. Chiropractic was one of the things we hadn’t tried yet.

The scans that you did at CLC were nothing like we’d ever seen before. Everything that I was telling you, was showing up on those scans. We could actually SEE the asymmetries in how Maci’s energy was distributed throughout her body. We could see how EXHAUSTED one side of her body was. We’d seen the tumor, we’d seen the MRIs, but I’d never seen a map of how her body was actually FUNCTIONING before.

Within the first few months of care, we were already noticing BIG changes. For the first time, Maci could jump with her feet together!! Before, it was always like a gallop. She couldn’t coordinate both her feet moving together at the same time. Her right foot would lead and her left would always lag behind. That was HUGE and something we were all super excited about.

The improvements didn’t stop there. After almost a year of being under care, we are continuing to see progress in how Maci can coordinate movements between the left and right side of her body.

We were recently at the Apple orchard, and Maci was running towards me with her feet so much more aligned, her body wasn’t completely kinked and rigid. It made me think back to a video we have of Maci running at the orchard at the same time last year before starting care, and her left foot was just so turned in. I’m just so excited to see how much more CONFIDENT and AWARE of her body she is becoming!

I started coming recently as well and have realized how much better my body feels, it made me think – it can only be working so awesome for her body too!!”

- Liam

“Liam was diagnosed at 5 years old with an IGA deficiency which is an immunity condition. He battled chronic ear infections for which he has had two sets of tubes for. When he was 3 years old he had walking pneumonia 3 times over the course of the winter. The year before we started Chiropractic care he had strep throat 4-5 times in the span of 6 months. When he would get strep he would be down and out. Not just the typical “mom I have a sore throat” and fever, he would just physically get sick and be very fatigued, not want to eat and just out of it for a day or two before his antibiotics would kick in.

We felt so frustrated that we couldn’t keep him healthy. If anyone was sick around him, he would catch it right away. We felt helpless watching him suffer through illness after illness as well as two surgeries for tubes.

We had heard about CLC from some friends and how they really focus on correcting the root cause vs putting a bandaid on it. They aren’t your typical adjust the area that is hurting, they make sure your body as a whole is in alignment which helps in so many more ways than just relieving pain. We really love what CLC stands for and how they work with their patients.

Liam started kindergarten this year right around the time we started him at CLC. We thought for sure he would be sick all winter long going to school with a lot more kids. This winter has been the best winter he has had sickness wise! He got strep throat earlier this year and we had no idea. He was running around, eating just fine, but happened to mention his throat was hurting a few times. His tonsils didn’t look as bad as they would have usually gotten, but we decided to take him in just to be sure given his history. Sure enough he had strep but the way his body handled it was a complete 180 from what we had experienced in the past! He didn’t get physically sick, he was happy, had energy and was bouncing around like nothing was wrong!

We are so thankful for everyone at CLC. Not only is our 5 year old seeing some awesome benefits but so are my husband and I! All of us have been healthy and we feel great! We look forward to our weekly adjustments, and know they are a great addition to our health and well being!”

- Cael + Kellen

“We started to bring our boys to CLC mainly for behavioral and temperament issues. Cael (age 5) was very sassy, stubborn and hard to talk to. He would get very upset once you could finally get through the discipline and then would be very hard to calm down. There was lots of yelling and strong moods. Kellen (age 3) would go from 0-100 so fast and get so upset. Screaming, throwing things, ect. Very hard to calm down, and being told “no” was always bad no matter what.

We just wanted to be able to talk through things to explain situations, teach why things are right or wrong and offer suggestions. Cael didn’t want any part of it, and it was very emotionally draining for us. With Kellen being so young, we didn’t even know where to begin to help him and calm his emotions.

We were told that “this is a phase”, or this is just how kids are. I felt that we should be able to do something to help them & after talking to CLC I felt a lot of hope. Instead of hearing this is a phase” or “kids will be kids”, we were given hope that we could actually help our boys.

The beginning of care for Cael was a little bit rough through the detox phase, but about 6 weeks after starting care we started noticing him wanting to talk to us about things vs. just yelling, crying and being super upset when he would get disciplined. He of course still acts like a kid, but can be talked to and tries to understand with us! He’s much more receptive to parenting! For Kellen, he has always been quick with his comebacks & reactions, but about 6 weeks after starting care for him, we noticed that he wasn’t flying off the handle as easily. We could talk through things with him without him getting SO upset and angry.

Cael is still a crazy, wild boy and Kellen is definitely a feisty 3 year old… but we can talk through things now! We can re-direct, work through problems together and it’s much more effective! It’s helped us all be closer, rather then them losing their cool and getting upset consistently. We don’t feel like we are always working against each other! There are still improvements happening from both boys and ourselves, but it’s much more positive and fun then before care at CLC!”

- Kelvin’s dad

“We reached out to CLC for Kelvin because a friend of ours had great things to say, and we had seen so many positive testimonials about apraxia. When we first started on this journey with Kelvin before his diagnosis, we didn’t know anything about apraxia. We just thought he was a late talker, because I was a late talker. We started to realize that he seemed to know exactly what he wanted to say, but it just wasn’t coming out as words. He got so frustrated and angry because he couldn’t communicate with us. We just couldn’t seem to calm him down. He was very emotional and anxious, and all we wanted to do was help him.

Our family had honestly never used a chiropractor for anything, so we had no idea what to expect. We just wanted to maximize what we were doing to help him, and since we had seen so many great reviews about CLC we decided to give it a shot. After the first few weeks of care Kelvin started to become more relaxed. He really started coming out of his shell!

From starting care at CLC at the beginning of summer to now, we can’t even put into words the difference in Kelvin. He’s doing things we never imagined he would do! Before care his Apraxia isolated him, so he didn’t have the opportunity to just be a kid. Now he’s acting just like a regular kid, which has been amazing to see! He is a totally different kid, and we definitely didn’t anticipate that! He’s running around, jumping and just more playful across the board! Between when we started care in June and now (August), he has gone from 12 productions at speech therapy to 65!! That is an amazing jump! He’s making more and more sounds and word attempts! The only thing we added this summer was his care at CLC! Now we just have normal 3 year old moments, rather than the old meltdowns he would have out of frustration from his apraxia. He has space to be himself for the first time! He even started preschool which we were nervous about, but it’s been going smoothly!

If you are skeptical about Chiropractic care, honestly so were we!! We had no idea how or if it would work, but the results speak for themselves! Give CLC the chance to prove you wrong! You can’t argue with results and we have had amazing results!”

“I originally came to Congruent Life towards the end of my second pregnancy because I had high blood pressure. I had a lot of anxiety and fear because of the high blood pressure and because of how I felt after my first birth. After my first baby I was all over the place emotionally. I felt like my hormones never really regulated. I like to be active and go out to do things, but after my birth with Liam we just had to sit at home a lot. I just felt like I couldn’t function like I wanted to. If things didn’t change, not only was I worried that I’d be on blood pressure meds the rest of my life, but I was worried I would have to live my life without the adventures I loved!

Things are so different during this postpartum journey! My only regret is that I didn’t come in sooner! Not only has my blood pressure continued to improve, I honestly feel like I did before I had babies. I bounced back so much quicker after birth, and my midwife actually said “you should have 10 more babies!” because of how well I was doing. It was so much different than the first time. After my first pregnancy, I even questioned whether I wanted to have more kids… because I just didn’t want to go through feeling like that again. I felt like I was going to be so limited in the way I could live my life… but now I have hope! After my first pregnancy I felt sluggish and anxious, which made me feel like a failure. Now after having my second baby, I should in theory be more stressed… but because of my care I am doing so much better! I wake up excited to do things with my kids!

I had gone to the chiropractor before, but my experience with you guys was much different. Rather than just going when I had “issues”, you guys put a plan in place for my OPTIMAL health and life! I felt hope immediately because Dr. Mike and Dr. Nikki took the time to listen to me and care for me as a whole person. The care wasn’t fear based like I had experienced in the past, but instead it gave me joy because I didn’t have to be afraid anymore!

Now that myself and my two children are all under care, I feel so confident having this a part of our lifestyle. Our family is on a positive health trajectory now! We don’t have to be limited thinking about the “what if’s” anymore. Instead we can spend our time thinking about what we want to do as a family! We know we are doing the best we can do for our health! We are putting in the time and work now, so we don’t have to worry about our health later!”

- Brooks’ mom

“We felt like Brooks was always sick prior to coming to CLC. He had been to the doctor 26 times in his 8-month life, not including a 5-day hospitalization for RSV at 4 months and his routine well-child checks. After Brooks’ hospitalization, we felt like he was always fighting illness. It wasn’t until 2 ear infections in 22 days at 8 months that we finally decided we needed to advocate for Brooks and seek out other options.

As his parents and advocates, we were emotionally exhausted from constant visits to doctors’ offices and seeing our baby boy in constant pain/illness. As his mom, I walked out of many doctors’ appointments in tears feeling helpless and knowing that he didn’t feel well.

It wouldn’t be authentic if we didn’t talk about the skepticism we had prior to bringing Brooks to CLC. Neither my husband nor I sought chiropractic care, and the thought of someone messing with my baby’s spine and nervous system was frightening. However, we had a “last-resort” type of attitude. There were a few family and friends who had mentioned chiropractic care to us, and so we asked around and CLC was recommended.

I will never forget our first appointment at CLC. It was an appointment that had been scheduled for the evening after work. However, not abnormal for that time, Brooks had a fever and slept horrible the night before – tugging at his ears. I took the day off work and brought him to the pediatrician that morning. We were told he had some redness and fluid, but no infection, and to watch for progression. This was another time I left the office in tears. I called my husband and he suggested I see if I could get Brooks into CLC sooner. The staff at CLC worked to get Brooks in so we could get “initial testing” done right away. As a mom who had just left the doctor’s office in tears, after holding her baby down on the table so they could drain his ears to get a “better look”, I was a little triggered. I soon learned there was no reason to be concerned.

I remember leaving our first appointment with CLC and telling my husband what a different experience taking Brooks to CLC was in comparison to the doctor’s office. All the staff at CLC treat you like old friends. I truly feel they are on Brooks’ team and will do whatever they can to ensure our baby boy is happy and healthy. They are patient with our now busy 10-month-old, and empathetic when Mom and Dad come with concerns that have nothing to do with the care he’s receiving that day – they truly care about the wellbeing of their patients.

I can’t remember the exact timeline, but it was probably about 2 weeks after our initial visit with CLC that we started to notice Brooks was finally sleeping at daycare for more than 30 minutes at a time. We could take him somewhere out of his normal routine (a visit to grandma and grandpa’s, a ballgame, etc.), and he wouldn’t come home sick. We were starting to step outside of our home without anxiety or guilt of bringing our baby into an environment that was inevitably going to make him sick.

We have now been with CLC a little over 2 months, and as parents, we feel like we’ve finally done something right for our sweet boy. Brooks is an on-the-go 10-month-old who has been to the doctor once in the past 2 months – for a routine well-child check. Our lives are less stressful, and we no longer hold the guilt and desperation we had on the first day walking into CLC.

Joining the CLC Tribe has been a big commitment for our family – the clinic is a 25-minute drive from our home, and we are a family of Daddy who is head coach and Mommy who is a commuter for work. However, we would do it again in a heartbeat, and if we had the chance to do it over, we would visit Dr. Mike & Dr. Nikki sooner. Our son’s health is worth every second we spend traveling back-and-forth, and our extended tribe reminds us how blessed we are every time we walk in CLC’s doors.”

- Landon

“Landon has struggled with major attention, behavior and impulsiveness issues. We struggled with daily outbursts, focusing and safety concerns.

We had overwhelming frustration. We have tried what feels like hundreds of things over the years with nothing working. Some things that were suggested to try actually made things worse. As parents and the advocates for our children, we felt like failures. We know this isn’t true, but it’s so hard when you can’t help your child.

We know that knowledge is power! When we found CLC, they gave us the tools and knowledge to begin to help our son. We finally have a deeper understanding of our son.

The moment we realized that what we were doing was working was when we noticed that the outbursts are farther in between, and when he does have one, he can calm himself down quicker. He is more focused at home, he looks us and others in the eye when speaking to us. We’ve gotten a lot of comments from others, noticing that he’s different! One big plus is that he’s been sick ZERO times since October. Not even a minor cold. That’s unheard of for us in this season!

Life is different for us now. We’re happier in the home. We have hope for the first time. We have a sense of peace that we are finally making progress after being stuck for so long. We are blessed and so thankful to have been led to CLC. We are excited to see our son continue towards his goals!”

- William

“Our Son, William, has been in speech therapy since he was 18 months old. He has been getting speech therapy 3 times a week for the several years. About 3 years ago he was diagnosed with speech apraxia which is a neurological speech disorder. At the age of 5 he was extremely hard to understand and he was not making much progress. All of our speech therapist have been absolutely amazing over the years and they have helped him significantly.

However, this past September, William started at CLC. His private Speech Therapist went out on maternity leave when he started getting chiropractic care. We hoped to see changes in his ability to deal with stress and behavior by seeing Dr. Mike but we had no idea that his ability to speak would dramatically change. The results speak for themselves! The dark line on this picture shows where he was before seeing Dr. Mike to where he is now! The gap in the dark line is the break he had with his private speech therapy, and the “WOW” is where he is now after his care with Dr. Mike. As his Grantwood AEA therapist put it, “This is simply amazing.” His private speech therapist came back from leave and she was shocked to see the progress he had made without having private speech therapy for 3 months!”

“I started having migraines during my first pregnancy, and they continued after baby. Every time I went to the doctor I was just given hardcore meds – pain blockers, daily blood pressure meds, ect. with no attempt at helping me pinpoint the cause, since there are “too many” possibilities of what could be causing my migraines. I felt brushed off and like I wasn’t being taken seriously.

I felt like I could cry at my first appointment with Dr. Mike when he affirmed that I didn’t need to suffer that way, and that I didn’t need to just continue to medicate my symptoms – but rather eliminate the root cause.

I actually found out I was pregnant for the second time shortly after starting care at Congruent Life. I expected the migraines to return at full force like they did with my first pregnancy, but they didn’t. I’ve also had hardly any back pain or ligament pain this pregnancy (drastically different from the first) and I’m now entering my 3rd trimester! It feels so amazing to feel good this pregnancy. To not have back pain, to be sleeping well and to have NO MORE MIGRAINES!”
